Project Requirements

TPT Fire Maintenance, a Hampshire-based fire safety specialist, approached SL Vehicle Solutions in Basingstoke looking to improve the efficiency, organisation, and professional appearance of one of their engineer vans.

As their engineers spend much of their time travelling between customer sites, the van needed to function as a reliable mobile workspace. Tools, equipment, consumables, and testing devices all needed dedicated storage, while an onboard power supply was required to support daily operations in the field.

For this project, TPT Fire Maintenance wanted to trial a professionally installed van racking system and inverter setup within a Renault Trafic. The objective was to create a stronger, safer, and more efficient working environment for one of their highest-performing technicians while presenting a professional image to customers across Hampshire and the surrounding areas.

The Challenge

The chosen solution was a bott standard racking module designed for medium-sized vans. While these systems provide an excellent foundation for vehicle organisation, every van model presents its own installation challenges.

Although the Renault Trafic falls within the medium van category, mounting points, internal vehicle structures, and load-bearing areas differ from vehicle to vehicle. Ensuring the racking maintained its strength, safety, and long-term durability required careful consideration during installation.

The inverter installation also needed to be positioned in a practical location that allowed easy access for the engineer while remaining secure and protected during daily use. Achieving a factory-quality finish while integrating both systems seamlessly into the vehicle was a key priority.
